Anti-climax

Yesterday at Loftus Road was a weird and wonderful experience that only QPR could serve up on a glorious Easter Monday afternoon in front of a near full Loftus Road.

First half, we looked good and on 9 minutes after a perfect through-ball from Adel Taarabt, Wayne Routledge slotted with some aplomb, to send the majority inside the ground into raptures.

Thereafter was an average affair, we relaxed too much and I for one knew a second goal was a must! Adel is going through a stage of one good game, one bad game. And today following his heroics on Saturday lunch time was due his bad game, and it happened (so will he rip Watford to shreds?) apart from the pass for Routledge, was about it. Even his shot midway through the second 45 never looked from my view that he was going to score. He struggled to get the ball under his spell and nearly lost it twice before swiping through the ball to cut it into the side netting. The usual confident version would have guided that ball into the far corner.

Hull got back into the game but never really threatened until 10 mins from time, a hopeful ball was clipped upfield and between the sleeping defence came young Amoo and smashed it past Kenny into the roof of the net.

Then came Rangers back, some players wanted to go for the win, other namely Fitz Hall who could have taken a long throw before injury time to lauch one in the box, but decided to tell everyone to calm down, and seemingly hold out for the draw. Agyemang could have scored late on but his composure left him and he lobbed Duke and the bar accompanied by a few groans.

Even later on Taarabt won a free kick 20 yards out and up strode Faurlin, as he struck the ball, everyone held their breath, it looked good all the way all if it wasn't for the fingertips of Duke (which was a fine save!) I am not able to put into words what would have happened if it did find the back of the net. But we are not Norwich...

At full time, it was hard to describe what I was feeling, yes, we were and are 6 clear of Cardiff with a healthy goal difference. Job done! But what of Norwich...

2-2 was the rumblings from near enough everyone. Was that it? Are we at the promised land with a trophy to take with us? Pitch invasion ensues thinking that was it, champions! Queue the announcement Full time at Carrow Road...Norwich 3 Derby 2. Cue confusion and deflation. No trophy yet. One more point and onto the bogey ground for us. Vicarage Road, anyone praying for Helguson and Smith to score a couple each??

This has been a season to remember and with Premier League football on the horizon, this season is nowhere near done, apprehension kicking in...hoping it's all in the mind.
